Mark is a retired secondary school teacher, having taught in Gosport at both Brune Park Community School and St Vincent. A former local councillor, he represented Town Ward in the early 2000s when Labour ran the council. He believes that Gosport Borough Council today is in a sad state – run from Portsmouth, Its budget cut by over 40% since 2010, council meetings frequently cancelled or cut short.

He is the current Chair of the local Labour party and has worked closely with Councillor June Cully over many years, on the regular Community Clean-Ups, campaigning to Save Our NHS and to protect education.

He is very concerned about the ongoing cuts to school budgets. The loss of Learning Support Assistants in many schools, the reduced support for children with disabilities and/or learning difficulties and the complacency of Hampshire’s Conservatives make him particularly angry.
