I have represented Town Ward since 1996 and served on all the main committees during that time, including Chairman of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Chairman of the Licensing Board. I have also acted as Vice Chair of Housing. The Tory government attitude to social housing is a great concern for me. When homes are in such high demand, social housing is essential and I intend to keep working towards this aim.

I had the privilege of serving as Mayor of Gosport in 2006-2007 and became leader of the Gosport Labour Councillors in May 2015. I have been an active Labour Party member since the 70’s. I joined the Labour Party to help people and bring improvements to our community. To that end, I take regular walkabouts in the ward to identify any problems and to help with residents concerns.

I care deeply about our environment and set up the Gosport Waterways Action Group in 1997 with local volunteers to clear dumped items from the shores of Workhouse lake to the Harbour. I also work with residents and local groups to maintain some of the local flowerbeds.

Finally, I have also been a Governor for 18 years at Newtown School and am still involved with the Action for Children Partnership Board (previously Sure Start). I am married with one son and enjoy my work here as a civil servant in Gosport.
